Summer Thoughts

It is a paradox that by emptying

our lives of distraction

we are actually filling the well.

-Julia Cameron

Some days those inner voice of criticism

will not be hushed…

as for me on a recent afternoon.

I played James Taylor

on Spotify,

gathered some past journals,

and sat outside.

I read page after page

of my own words,

prayers,

and quotes.

And I was reminded

that it is in silence

that we hear.

Hours later

I finished an art project

for Emma's birthday,

another for Ally + Ben,

and I packed

for one more busy weekend,

this time Stowe, VT.

A special thank you to

James Taylor

my go-to

for consistent,

chill and comfort music.
