Happy Summer

June 11, 2023

What a treat to sub for Susanne at DBMS this morning.

One of those stunning summer mornings.

Cool breeze, warm temps, blue sky

and just the right amount of boat engines and water slapping the shore.

“To savor is to go slow. Being willing to soften so we can

soak it all in, refusing to rush by the sweetness of a moment,

a look, a word, a memory -- that is how we find the honey in the

hollows of life. Sweet to the taste, balm for the soul,

waiting just beyond – or even in the midst of --

life's inevitable stings.”

-Charis Dietz

from Magnolia, Summer 2023

The body speaks a different language as we age.

I know because I have reached that age…

Slow down.

Move with your breath.

Listen to the peacefulness in your heart,

The messages from your bones, muscles,

facia, the webbing holding your body together

that says,

There is healing in this yin pose

Feel the deep stretch

Gently promoting lubrication around the joints

And inviting more flexibility.

Honor the body

That has carried you through a lifetime

Of memories…each and every one of them…

Show kindness to your body

And honor the modifications that it sometimes seeks,

That says no sometimes

Take child’s pose instead.
